"It's all charred up." How many firefighters responded in all?Īpproximately 120 firefighters from nine communities responded to the scene, including firefighters from Hull, Cohasset, Norwell, Scituate, Rockland, Weymouth, Quincy, Braintree and Hanover. "Three's like three holes in the top of our roof that they had to take care of and the back fence was on fire," resident Matt Sullivan said. Some neighbors were seen spraying down their homes with water to keep the fire from spreading. One family that lives across the street said they have holes in their roof from wind-blown embers and their fence briefly caught fire. Several other homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution due the fire embers spreading to nearby houses. Three people were also inside a neighboring home when the fire started and they all got out safely. Fire officials said the home was destroyed and the family will be displaced. A painter was also inside, painting on the second floor, but escaped unharmed. A nanny was reportedly home watching a child at the home where the fire started.
